What To Expect

Here’s what a typical outing with us looks like!

What should participants expect?

A day out in nature getting involved in the practical tasks of getting to know and take care of the New Forest. We go to a variety of venues within the New Forest area depending on which day of the week it is. We support our clients to take part in activities to the best of their ability, to learn new skills, share their skills and get to know others of all abilities who have a passion for caring for nature.

Flourish in Nature offers the opportunities for connection with nature with all its benefits whilst bringing meaningful interactions through the work that we do.
We actively encourage transferable skills such as self-management and tolerance of change and the development of independence skills.

We are able to offer some transportation to our sites with the Flourish Welfare Van.
We can transport our groups to venues across the New Forest in comfort, taking our onboard seating, kitchenette and toilet facilities with us wherever we go.

Where does the activity take place?

We have partners across the New Forest, so depending on your interest the activity can be based at either:

• A small community farm, with rare breed herds of sheep and cows, and conservation projects such as hedges, orchards, and pond creation.
• A charity that provides outdoor activities to the wider community, helping them with estate maintenance, wildlife habitat creation and horticultural projects
• A local community farm growing vegetables and maintaining wildlife habitats
• Wildlife and habitat conservation projects in woodlands or heathlands in the New Forest

They are all places that welcome Flourish In Nature CIC to be part of the work they do. They are either charities, Community Groups, or environmental organisations whose primary aim is care of the unique nature of the New Forest.

Flourish in Nature CIC aims to enable people who require additional support to be able to take part in these activities that are also available to the wider community.

When does it take place?

Monday-Friday, approximately 9am-4pm depending on the location.

Who can participate?

Adults with additional needs eg learning disability, or other needs that they feel they’d prefer the comfort of a supported group and the facilities we can provide in order to access the opportunities. Currently we are unable to provide medical or personal care, or mobility aids.
